A quiet room off a loud city
Purple Jasmine opened on a stretch of Awolowo Road with one idea: Lagos deserved a café that moved slower than everything around it. We roast our house coffee with local partners, steep jasmine pearl tea properly — three minutes, not one — and put zobo and suya on the same menu as shakshuka, because that is what eating in this city actually looks like.
Every table is a little different, every server knows the regulars, and the kitchen still closes when the last plate goes out, not when the clock says so.
